Сценарий знакомый: Всплыло окно "Вышла новая версия... давай обновимся ?" Жму "угу", обновляется, предлагает ребутнуться, отложил, позже ушёл в ребут... Система не поднимается.
Симптомы: Загрузиться не удаётся ни с одного из режимов - восстановление, предыдущее ядро, предыдущее ядро в режиме восстановления, - никак. Доходит до экрана с логотипом Kubuntu и точками-индикаторами загрузки и всё... (так и висит) По Esc можно посмотреть примерно следуююще (взял из /var/log/boot.log):

Была такая же ерунда, немного помучавшись, плюнул и установил с нуля 11.10, зато сейчас работает норм.
А без переустановки можно обойтись или все же нет?
Можно попробывать , загрузится с установочного диска и в каком-нибудь мененджере пакетов пересобрать. Я лучше бы скопировал то , что нужно со старой системы и установил с нуля.
на Ctrl+Alt+F1 реагирует?
